The Jilin hydrogen peroxide plant was launched in 2014 with an annual production capacity of 230,000 tonnes, which lifted Evonik’s global H202 capacity to more than 900,000 metric tonnes. The facility supplies H202 directly to the adjacent propylene oxide plant operated by Jishen Chemical Industry Co. under a long-term offtake agreement. The 370 million yuan propylene oxide plant held an official groundbreaking ceremony in June 2016. Jishen will use the proprietary HPPO process developed by Evonik and ThyssenKrupp Uhde to convert hydrogen peroxide feedstock into propylene oxide.
