Bentara is located in Block SK-6, which was previously operated by Occidental Petroleum in the early 1990s. The Bentara-1 discovery well flowed 1,200 barrels per day of oil and 9.8 million cubic feet per day of gas during a well test. Balai is located very near to Bentara. The proposal is a cluster development of the two fields using up to four wellhead platforms plus a FSO or a FPSO. The country is looking to develop marginal fields and is also progressing liquefied natural gas imports to help arrest the decline in domestic oil and gas production.
