The project will see the construction of a storage terminal, which will be located at Pengerang Johor. The terminal will have an initial storage capacity of approximately 1.3 million cubic metres (cbm). In August 2017, the partners announced they will expand PITSB by 430,000 cubic metres to a total capacity of 1.7 mcm. A total of 24 new tanks will be built ranging from 10,000 cubic metres to 25,000 cubic metres. The expansion at the terminals will be commissioned progressively from the first quarter of 2019.
The facility will provide storage, blending and distribution services for crude oil and clean petroleum products and will be capable of handling Very Large Crude Carriers. In the initial phase of development, the terminal will have six berths. PITSB is connected by pipelines to the Pengerang Terminals (Two) industrial terminal. The terminal will also serve the new Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) project.
