The Sinogas - Shantou LNG Terminal is located at Budaiao Bay, Nanao Island, near Shantou City. The terminal has a capacity of 3 million-tonne per year. The Nan’ao Island LNG Terminal is aimed at meeting the energy demands of a rapidly growing industrial and residential market, as well as the future construction of gas fired power stations to be operated by China Guodian Corporation in eastern Guangdong Province. The LNG receiving terminal was approved by local government in January 2010 and then forwarded to the powerful National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) for final approval. The terminal is constructed at a value of US$741 million.
