Jilin Petrochemical, a subsidiary of PetroChina, is expanding its refinery and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) project in Jilin. The expansion has a capacity of 10 million t/y and will add to the company\'s existing 7.5 million t/y capacity. The expansion will comprise six units, atmospheric and vacuum distillation, catalytic cracking, gas fractionation, diesel hydrogenation, gasoline hydrogenation and sulfur recovery and is due to be fully operational in October 2011. The 400,000 t/y ABS project includes two 200,000 t/y production lines, one each for special-purpose materials and general-purpose materials, and a 320,000t/y styrene unit. The project will increase ABS and styrene production capacity to 580,000t/y and 460,000t/y respectively.
