The project will see the proposed construction of a 1,585km gas pipeline with a capacity of 30 MMSCMD, that will originate at Mallavaram and will pass through the cities of Peddapuram, Ramagundam, Sipur, Nagpur, Bhopal, Sehore, Mandsaur and will terminate at Bhilwara. The pipeline will have a Take-Off Point (TOP) at Bhopal. A 146km spurline will be laid from Bhopal to connect the city of Vjaipur in Madhya Pradesh. The gas will be sourced from Gujarat State Petroleum Corps Krishna Godavari fields.

A consortium led by the Gujarat State Petronet Limited (GSPL) will invest over the next three years to lay three cross-country gas pipelines. The pipeline will be laid from Mallavaram in Andhra Pradesh to Bhilwara in Rajasthan (1,611 km), Mehsana in Gujarat to Bhatinda in Punjab (1,688 km) and Bhatinda to Jammu (512 km). The letter of authorisation was granted by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB).

The pipelines will travel through Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, the National Capital Region, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir and benefit industries and city agglomerations lacking piped gas connectivity. The consortium comprising GSPL, Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation will also be bidding for the proposed gas pipeline from Hazira near Surat to Paradip (Orissa) soon.

Gujarat State Petronet Ltd.: 52% interest

Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (HPCL): 11% interest

Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOC): 26% interest

Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL): 11% interest
