Project Profile
Area: 4,195 km2
Location: Offshore Vietnam
Block 06/94 is part of the original Block 06 on which BP discovered the 2.2 TCF Lan Tây and Lan Ð gas fields, which currently supply much of southern Vietnam\'s electricity.
The license was awarded to a Pearl Oil (Nam Con Son) Ltd. operated Joint Venture on 2nd April 2007. Pearl and partners Lundin South East Asia and Kris Energy are equal equity holders. The initial three year exploration period (IEP) was recently extended until October 2011. All work and financial commitments related to the IEP have been met. Entry to the subsequent two year exploration period carries a single well commitment.
A total of 2,342 km² of 3D seismic has been acquired to date. Pearl has drilled three wells on block, in 2009 and 2010. Two minor gas discoveries were made, one in Early Pliocene fan sands.
Pearl Oil is currently seeking a six month extension for the Block, which will extend the exploration period to April 2012.
