Project Profile

Value: US$2 billion
Location: Mahanadi basin 12km NW
Start-up year: 2013

The well NEC-25-A5 lies in the Mahanadi basin 12km NW of the earlier natural gas discovery NEC-25-A1 (Dhirubhai 9). The recent well, Dhirubhai 40, is the eighth discovery in this block. The total reserves of the discoveries is 5 tcf (trillion cubic feet) of gas.

The facilities being evaluated for the field development include newbuild and converted jack-ups; FPSO vessels; four- and six-legged platforms, possibly with condensate storage facilities; and a floating storage and offloading vessel. Gas export would be via new 50km line to shore at Gopalpur in Orissa state. Contractors will also be required to propose offloading arrangements for the project\'s liquids.

A field development plan for the Dhirubhai 32 and 40 fields is being considered. Under consideration is an 8 well manifold with umbilical distribution hub (UDH), subsea distribution assembly (SDA), subsea distribution unit (SDU) functionality with subsea High Integrity Pressure Protection System (HIPPS).Some wells will be connected to the manifold with infield flow lines while others will be done with short jumpers. An export pipeline (18\" x 100 km) has been considered to the onland terminal. The onshore processing terminal will include a slug catcher, a booster compressor, gas dehydration and TEG regeneration unit, a hydraulic power unit, custody transfer metres, monoethylene glycol storage and injection system.
