Project Profile

Value: US$1,500 million
Start-up Year: 2013
LNG: 3.5 million tonne/year
Capacity: 120,000-cbm to 265,000-cbm
Location: Jurong Island, Singapore

The terminal will be executed in two phases. Phase 1 will include a terminal with capacity of 3.5 mtpa, which will have two storage tanks of 180,000 cbm each with an option to add a third and a jetty capable of handling a wide range of LNG carriers, from 60,000 cbm to Q-Max vessels. The third jetty will allow transfer of re-export cargoes without the use of storage tanks. The second Phase involves increasing the capacity to 6 mtpa and a third jetty for small ships. BG Group has signed an agreement to supply volumes to Singapore as the country’s exclusive LNG supplier. The company will supply 800,000 tonnes to 1.2 million tonnes a year and as demand increases, the amount will increase to 3 million tonnes by 2018.

Singapore’s first LNG terminal is the first open-access, multi-user LNG terminal in Asia that is capable of importing and re-exporting LNG from multiple suppliers. It is situated on a 30 hectare plot at the Meranti Seafront on Jurong Island. The terminal will not only provide capacity for Singapore to import regasified LNG for its own needs, but also serves as a catalyst for companies to open up trade opportunities. To be built at an estimated cost of US$1.5 billion.

The Singapore LNG terminal currently has three 188,000-cbm storage tanks and an LNG jetty capable of receiving liquefied natural gas carriers with the capacity of 120,000-cbm to 265,000-cbm.
