Backgroud


The block was awarded to the operator during the second round two tender and is located in the Burgos basin in the state of Tamaulipas, with an area of 464 square kilometers. 

August 24, 2016, CNH published the second Invitation to Bid of Round 2 and the Guidelines for the Internacional Public Bidding Process CNH-R02-L02/2016.

December 08, 2017, CNH, on behalf of the State, and contractor Pantera Exploration y Production 2.2, S.A.P.I. de C.V. executed the Hydrocarbon Exploration and Extraction Contract.

September 03, 2018, Pantera Exploration y Production 2.2, S.A.P.I. de C.V. submitted the Exploration Plan for the consideration of CNH.

June 4, 2019, The governing body of the National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH) approved to Pantera Exploración y Producción the exploration plan for area 9 in the Burgos Basin, in which 24.27 million dollars will be invested.

Expected workload


The objective of the exploration plan presented by the operator is to update and rank the portfolio of prospects and verify the existence of hydrocarbons in the Middle Oligocene, Cretaceous and Jurassic, by drilling four exploratory wells for which they will invest 18.26 million dollars. The drilling work would begin in June 2019 and end February 2020, beginning with Brega-001EXP which would seek the objective of the Middle Oligocene at 1,700 meters and where resources are expected for 37.8 billion cubic feet of gas.
