Beluga (Ca Tam) field was discovered in 2014 in course of the exploration well 2-X testing. The field is located within the Block 09/3-12 in the South Konshonskom oil and gas basin, 150 km south-east of Vung Tau, 20 km to the east of the White Tiger (Bach Ho) field. Oil and gas potential associated with Oligocene-Miocene sediments and crystalline basement rocks. The oil reserves calculation are still to be determined and a design project for bringing the field into development shall be prepared basing on the results of the commercial discovery. However, the result of the first Upper Oligocene productive horizon test of the exploration well CT-3X was a dry oil free flow to surface of 1,300 m3/day, and the second Lower Miocene productive horizon testing resulted in a dry oil free flow to surface of 550 m3/day.
