The AGC Central licence is located in the joint development offshore area between Senegal and Guinea Bissau. The area was previously included in the AGC Profond licence area. The PSC includes three exploration periods of three, two and two years. Commitment in the initial three year exploration phase is the acquisition of 750 square kilometres of 3D seismic data.

Oryx Petroleum is pursuing a carbonate edge play type in the AGC Central, a play type that other operators have pursued with success elsewhere in the Casamance sub-basin.

Oryx Petroleum acquired around 2,000 square km of 3D seismic on the AGC Central licence in early 2017. Processing and interpretation was completed in late 2017. In April 2018, final interpretation was in advanced stages. The initial data from the seismic showed 11 prospects, with a best estimate unrisked prospective oil resource of 3.45 billion barrels.
