The Bazrakan Oilfield is located east of Amara, the capital city of Missan province, Iraq. The field holds about 150 million barrels of oil reserves. In August 2010 Weatherford drilled a new oil well in the al-Bazrakan oilfield as part of a US$224 million deal to drill 20 wells in a bid to increase oil production. The production capacity for each well was ranged between 20,000 and 30,000 bpd.
