Commonwealth LNG is an 8.4 million tonnes per annum LNG export facility located at the mouth of the Calcasieu River in Cameron, Louisiana, United States. The Commonwealth facility will receive natural gas from an incoming pipeline, convert the natural gas into LNG through a process of pretreatment and liquefaction, store the LNG in specially built storage tanks, and ultimately transfer the LNG onto various sized LNG ships for delivery. In addition to the pipeline, liquefaction process equipment, and tanks, the facility will also include a dock, a power plant, a flare, maintenance building, and administration buildings, and other facility support systems.
The project on 16 October 2018 selected the trio of TechnipFMC, Lloyd Engineering and CH-IV for engineering services and development of Resource Report 13, marine facility and turning basin design and the development of the formal Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) application for the 6-train, 1-berth Commonwealth LNG facility. Commonwealth LNG anticipates filing its draft resource reports with FERC on December 1, 2018. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued a notice of intent to prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS) in February 2019. Commonwealth LNG anticipates filing the formal application with FERC in March 2019.
