Project Profile

Value: US$50 million
Location: North Algeria, South East Constantine basin, Block 126a
Start-up Year: 2015
Production rate: 3,000 b/d

The fields were announced as commercial in June 2007 and the development plan envisages producing oil from the GKN-1 well (currently producing at approximately 1,200 b/d) and bringing the GKS-2 well onstream as soon as practicable. As part of the plan, a pipeline will be constructed to connect GKS-2 to the existing evacuation pipeline so that this well can begin production. The GKS-2 well produced at a rate equivalent to 4,586 b/d of oil and 4.61 MMcf/d of gas when it was tested in 2005.

The two fields will be developed in a staged process through the acquisition of a 3D seismic survey and a development drilling programme. The plateau production rate is expected to be 3,000 b/d.
