Block D230 is located in the North Absheron Basin in the Azeri sector of the Caspian Sea. It covers areas in a water depth of up to 300 metres with the reservoir depth of 3000-5000 metres. In May 2016, BP and SOCAR signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly explore potential prospects at the block.
On April 26th, 2018, BP and Socar signed a new production sharing agreement for the joint exploration and development of the block. The PSA is for 25 years and BP will be the operator.
