Project Profile

Location: Island of Bioko, Equatorial Guinea
Reserves: 4.6 Tcf
Production: 65,000 barrels of condesate per day
Depth: 75 m / 248 ft
Start-up Year: 1984

The Alba gas and condensate field is located approximately 32 kilometres offshore from the capital Malabo, located on the island of Bioko in Equatorial Guinea. The Alba Field’s offshore condensate/natural gas production site is one of the largest producers in the Gulf of Guinea. The field is said to have reserves in excess of 4.6 Tcf and was put into production in 1991. The field has seen improvements over the years and has been expanded to contain 11 producing and 5 gas injection wells. Production rates have reached 65,000 barrels of condesate per day.

Condensate and natural gas are extracted from the platform and sent to the onshore Gas Plant at Punta Europa for processing into various products, including propane and butane. Approximately 130 mmcfd gross of the dry gas remaining after the condensate and LPG are removed is supplied to the AMPCO plant on Bioko Island, where it is used to manufacture 3,000 gross tonnes of methanol per day. Marathon acquired CMS Energy Corp.\'s interest in Alba in 2001 and is currently the operator with 63% interest. Partners include Noble Energy 34% and GEPetrol 3%.

Marathon Oil Corporation has achieved first gas production through its new Alba B3 offshore compression platform off Equatorial Guinea. Production from the B3 platform allows Marathon Oil to convert approximately 130 million boe of proved undeveloped reserves, more than doubling the Company\'s remaining proven developed reserve base in EG. (July, 2016)

Operators:

Marathon Oil Corporation: Operator with 65%

Noble Energy: 35% interest

Contractors:

Heerema Fabrication Group: Awarded in 2013, an EPCI contract concerning a greenfield gas compression platform to be installed. The Alba B3 platform will consist of a 4,500-ton topsides module and a 4-legged, 265-foot high jacket. The platform will be connected via bridge to the existing Alba B2 platform. Offshore installation will began in 2015 with start-up planned mid-2016.

Iv-Oil & Gas: EPC platform contract, jointly executed with Heerema Fabrication Group

Subcontractors:

ECG: Contract to construct the 33-meter-long bridge to connect the Alba B3 platform to the existing Alba B2 platform, and the 73-meter-tall flare
