Menzel Ledjmet East (MLE) field - Block 405b
Menzel Ledjmet East (MLE) field is an oil and gas project located in Block 405b, around 1,000 km from Algiers in Algeria. The project had a cost of US$1.3 billion before the merging with Block 403. A plant, located in the field, allows for the treatment of rich gas for the daily production and sale of 9 mcm of gas, 15,000 bpd of oil and condensate and 12,000 bpd of LPG. Eni bought the asset in December 2008 from a Canadian company, First Calgary Petroleum. Saipem was the main EPC contractor for the field and the processing plant in the block.
Bir Rebaa North (BRN) - Block 403
The block is located in southeast Algeria, in the prolific Berkine Sub-basin in the south-eastern part of the Saharan desert. Eni started exploration drilling in 1987, and discovered the Bir Rebaa North (BRN), West (BRW) and Southwest (BRSW) fields in the early 1990s. The fields are developed through a central production facility (CPF), which is located at the BRN field. In March 2017 development activities started for the construction of a 10 MW photovoltaic plant to supply power generation to the Bir Rebaa North field. In June 2017 Eni signed with the relevant Authorities a 15-year extension agreement of the Block 403 fields, and a possible further 10-year extension.
