Pampa Energia has secured a 35-year concession for the Sierra Chata block. The block lies in the Vaca Muerta Shale play's natural gas window. Pampa operates the block, with backing from partners ExxonMobil and Total.
The operator intends to start a US$520 million pilot project, which involves drilling 24 horizontal wells over the next five years, 15 of them in Vaca Muerta and the rest in the Mulichinco tight gas play. 
At present, the Block produces natural gas from the Mulichinco formation (compact sands or tight gas), with 69 productive wells and 45 million cubic feet (1.3mcm) of daily net production.

ExxonMobil: 51.0% interest
