Rokan block is one of Indonesia’s most productive oil blocks and includes Duri and Minas fields. Steamflood technology has been applied at Duri field since 1985, making it one of the largest steamflood developments in the world.
Minas field is the largest oilfield ever discovered in Southeast Asia. It produces Sumatran Light Crude oil through waterflood injection technology.
Rokan's production currently comes from 75 active fields that produce Sumatra Light Crude, with an average daily output in 2017 of 68,000 barrels of crude oil and 21 million cubic feet of natural gas. Production is generated from drilling of insertion wells, reworking activities and water injection.
Crude oil from the fields is transported to Dumai via a 600 km pipeline system to a tank farm with 5.1 million barrel storage capacity.
