Introduction

The Fula oil field is an oil field located in Muglad Basin. It was discovered in 2001 and developed by China National Petroleum Corporation. It began production in 2004 and produces oil. The total proven reserves of the Fula oil field are around 745 million barrels (100×106tonnes), and production is centered on 55,000 barrels per day (8,700 m3/d).

The field contains crude of 16.8 to 19 °API. It has produced 14% of original oil in place. Massive and unconsolidated sandstones inter-bedded with thin (3 to 13 ft) and discontinuous shales possess high horizontal and vertical permeabilities (2 to 9.53 Darcies). Lateral dimensions of shale bodies range from 1,000 to 2,000 ft.

China National Petroleum Corporation is the operator of the field and holds 95% interests,Sudan's state oil company--Sudan National Petroleum Corporation,has 5% interests.
