Project Profile

Value: undisclosed
Location: Krasnokutsky district, Kharkiv region

Discovery: 1981
Start-up year: 1984
Gas production: 390 mcm per day
Ukrnaftoburinnya (UNB) secured rights to the Sakhalin field, its only upstream asset, in 2010. The field, which lies in the Krasnokutsky district of Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, was discovered in 1981 and brought into production three years later. It is located in the northern near-flank zone of the Dnieper-Donetsk petroleum basin. UNB now operates 22 gas and liquid wells at the site measuring depths of between 3,800 and 5,750 metres (Newsbase Intelligence; March 2018). They are connected to a central treatment facility.
UNB ramped up gas production at Sakhalin by 51% to 390 mcm in 2017, after spudding four new wells and bringing several more idle ones back into operation. It also managed a 48% growth in crude oil and gas condensate extraction to 43,000 tonnes. In January 2018, the firm said it aimed to drill a further six deep wells at the field this year.
Operator: Ukrnaftoburinnya (UNB) with 100% interest.
Contractors:
Naftogazmontazh: general contractor for the construction of a 37.5-km pipeline connecting Sakhalin’s treatment units with Ukraine’s main gas system, completed in March 2018. Spetsgazstroy and Naftogazspetsmontazh also assisted with the pipeline’s construction.
