Background
In March 2014, EnQuest and Uzma signed a Small Field Risk Service Contract (“SFRSC”) with PETRONAS to develop and produce the Tanjong Baram field until March 2023. Under the terms of the RSC, the contractors would provide the upfront development capital and undertake the development drilling and production of the marginal field, with PETRONAS remaining the owner of the project. Field development – representing EnQuest’s initial entry into Malaysia – was successfully executed by an integrated EnQuest and Uzma team, demonstrating our rapid field development capability by achieving first production in June 2015.

Brief Introduction

Located in water depths of 10-20 metres within the Western Baram Delta approximately 6 kilometres off the coast of Sarawak, East Malaysia.
Tanjong Baram field comprises five oil-bearing sandstone reservoirs of Middle to Late Miocene age contained in a rollover anticline, bounded at south by SW-NE growth fault. The structure is dissected by several east-west antithetic faults, resulting in multiple compartmentalized fault blocks. In 2016, Original oil in place was estimated in excess of 20 MMSTB.

It was originally discovered in 1995 by drilling the TB-1 exploration well, followed by two appraisal wells. The Tanjong Baram development consists of 2 producing wells, an unmanned lightweight wellhead platform and an 8 kilometre flexible pipeline tie-back to the West Lutong-A platform operated by PETRONAS. Tanjung Baram, which flowed first oil in June 2015, currently producers around 2,000 barrels per day.
