Project Profile

Location: Senegal Gambia Basin, offshore Senegal
Reserves: 168 mmbo (P50 recoverable)
Area: 4,459 sq km
Depth: 10-250 metres
Start-up Year: -

In 2014, Cap Energy acquired an indirect interest in the oil and gas exploration licence on the Block Djiffere, offshore Senegal. The Djiffere PSC covers an exploration block of 4,459 sq km offshore central Senegal in a highly prospective part of the Senegal Gambia Basin. The block is in water depths of between 10 metres to 250 metres, and predominantly less than 100 metres, while proven mature oil source rock exists immediately to the west, downdip of the block. The modern 2D seismic was acquired during 2014 by the operator, and well ties have been made to the nearest oil discoveries. The interpretation of 2D data acquired in 2014 is almost completed and several structural leads and prospects have already been mapped on the block.

The largest prospect to date is the Antelope structure, a three way rollover against a fault, where the main level is estimated to contain potential resources of 168 mmbo (P50 recoverable) in Campanian sands. The full assessment of the prospects and leads will be announced, once the final independent report is available. Further potential is expected in stratigraphic leads, subject to further study and the acquisition of 3D seismic. The operator is planning to continue to use the RVD (Rex Virtual Drilling) technology to help reduce risk on the target prospects. On 19 February 2014, Sencap Limited , a newly formed subsidiary of the Company, acquired from Trace Atlantic Oil Limited (TAOL) a 49% interest in TAOL Senegal (Djiffere) Limited (TAOL Djiffere), the company holding the Djiffere Licence. TAOL is the owner of the remaining 51% interest and the operating partner in TAOL Djiffere. Sencap is wholly owned by Cap.

Operators:

Trace Atlantic Oil Djiffere Limited (TAOL): Operator with 45.9% interest

Sencap Limited (a subsidiary of Cap Energy PLC): 44.1% interest

Petrosen: 10% interest

Contractors:

Polarcus: Contract to undertake a 3D seismic survey in the Western part of the Djiffere block. This survey, in combination with other seismic data will provide 400kmetres2 of 3D coverage and will evaluate the shelf trend potential within the Djiffere block. The survey will be completed during this month as an extension of the current ongoing 3D seismic survey being conducted by FAR and its Senegal joint venture partners over its RSSD blocks. FAR estimates that its 3D survey in Djiffere will cost US$1.1 million.
