Project Profile

Location: Block 15/06, offshore Angola
Capacity (FPSO): 100,000 barrels
Storage capacity (FPSO): 1.8 million barrels
Production: 150,000 bpd (2017)
Depth: 450 m
Start-up year: February 2017

The East Hub project comprises the development of the Cabaca Norte and Cabaca South East discoveries in Block 15/06 offshore Angola. The plan of development calls for 23 wells tied to an FPSO with a daily production capacity of 100,000 barrels. The Cabaca Norte field is located on Block 15/06 in 1,640 ft (500 m) of water, 217 miles (350 kilometres) North of Luanda, offshore Angola. In October 2009, the discovery well, Cabaça Norte-1 well, was drilled by the Scarabeo 7 semisub to a total depth of 9,285 ft (2,830 me), encountering oil in sands of Miocene age with excellent reservoir characteristics. A production test was performed and oil flowed at a constrained rate of 6,500 bopd. The Cabaca South East-1 field is located in Block 15/06 offshore Angola.

Oil was discovered in the Cabaca South East-1 well, in a depth of 1,542 ft (470 m), when it reached its multi-targeted objective in the deepest levels of Miocene age, where oil-bearing reservoirs, with a total of 1,476 ft (450 me) of gross thickness, were proven.

In March 2014, Eni issued a Letter of Intent (LOI) to Bumi Armada for the charter, operation and maintenance of the FPSO intended for use at the East Hub development in Block 15/06 offshore Angola. A contract based on the LOI was signed by the two parties with effective date of March 28, 2014. Estimated value of the 12-year contract is US$3 billion with an additional US$.9 billion associated with 8 yearly options. The contract is Bumi Armada\'s largest FPSO deal to date. The FPSO will utilize an external turret with 18 risers and umbilicals and have a storage capacity of 1.8 million barrels. Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for 4Q 2016. In 2015, the block has been extended. The extension also includes an area adjacent to the block 15/06 which covers the discovery of Reco-Reco, estimated to be about 100 million barrels of oil in place.
