Sigyn lies in block 16/7 in the Norwegian North Sea. The discovery well lies approximately 12km south-east of the Sleipner A platform. The field is expected to produce for ten years.LICENCEThe production licence 072 was awarded in 1981 and the field was discovered in 1982 and added to in 1997.EQUITYEsso Norway operates 40% of the field. The other licencees are Statoil (20%), SDFI (30%) and Norsk Hydro (10%). Statoil has been responsible for part of the development.#GAS RESERVES#Sigyn has gas reserves of 5.6 billion scm, NGL reserves of 2.6 million tonnes and condensate of 5.6 million scm. In a gas sales contract agreed in June 2001, Sigyn was initially contracted to supply 2.3 billion m³ gas during 2002 and 2003.DEVELOPMENTThe Sigyn field development plans envisaged a subsea satellite with three wells tied through two flow lines to the Statoil-operated Sleipner A platform. While the satellites are remotely operated from the platform, Esso is responsible for reservoir. In 2001, Statoil signed NOK375 million of contracts for the development. These included a NOK200 million contract to ABB to carry out modification work on the Sleipner A platform. Coflexip Stena Offshore was contracted to install a seabed template, flowlines and control system.First production began from one well in Sigyn East and two in Sigyn West, all drilled from the same subsea template. This was roughly three months ahead of the original schedule.
