Statoil opened the Valemon control room at Sansli in Bergen, the Valemon platform, located in the North Sea offshore Norway, will be the first platform in Norway to be remotely-controlled from land. The Valemon field came on stream in in 2015, 30 years after the field was discovered in 1985. A gas and condensate field between Kvitebjørn and Gullfaks Sør in the North Sea, about 160 kilometres west of Bergen.

The plan for development and operation (PDO) for the Valemon field was approved by the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy in June 2011. The Valemon field is one of Statoil’s stand-alone development projects on the Norwegian continental shelf. Containing about 192 million barrels of oil equivalent the field will be producing through a separate platform. 26 billion cubic metres of gas and 31 million barrels of condensate. Petoro (30%), Enterprise Oil (3.225%) and Total (2.5%) . The production drilling is completed and the planned production capacity has been reached. Additional producers are planned to maintain the production level. The Valemon Nord discovery is being evaluated for possible tie-in to the Valemon platform.
