The South Tunisian gas project (STGP), looks to construct a gas infrastructure in the south of Tunisia, enabling the country to develop their potential gas concessions. The project consists of building a Central Processing Facility (CPF) at the center of gravity of the southern concessions to collect and compress all rich gases from the southern concessions, transport these gases through a new 24” pipeline to a new Gas Treatment Plant (GTP) located in the Gabès industrial area 320 km from the CPF. The latter will have a design capacity of 2.7 million standard cubic metres per day, possibly expandable.
The production will be provided by the following wells: Nawara-1; Ahlam-1; Ahlam-2; Sourour; Fella; Ritma; Khouloud, Benefsej-1 et Benefsej Sud-1 (a required new concession through a consolidated development with Nawara).
Nawara concession is an onshore field. It is located in Ghademes basin in south Tunis 50km southwest of Hammouda & Oued Zar production installations. The internal final investment decision for the project was taken in March 2014. The project has received all necessary government approvals. The South Tunisian Gas Pipeline project and Nawara project have already been merged.
The European Investment Bank co-financed the project by granting a loan of US$176 million to ETAP and a loan of US$271 million to OMV. (March, 2014)
