Statoil’s giant Cat-J jack-up drilling rig has reached Norway after a long journey from South Korea. Ordered in 2013, the new category J rigs will be able to operate in harsh environments at water depths from 70 to 140 meters and drill wells with lengths up to 10,000 meters. The Gullfaks Satellites produces around 260 million barrels of recoverable oil and condensate in the first phase. Production plateaued at 125,000 barrels per day. Oil is exported from Gullfaks A and Gullfaks C via loading buoys onto tankers.
