Ghana\'s parliament has ratified the petroleum agreement between the government, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and AGM Petroleum Ghana for the South Deepwater Tano (SDWT) block. The agreement grants AGM ownership and operatorship of the block and the authority to carry out all petroleum exploration, development and production activities there.

AGM Petroleum Ghana is a subsidiary of AGM Gibraltar, which is jointly owned by AGR Energy, Minexco Petroleum and MED Songhai Developers. The 3,482 square kilometre SDWT block is located in water depths of between 2,000 metres and 3,500 metres in the Tano basin. It is not far from the Hess-operated Deepwater Tano - Cape Three Points block - home to seven discoveries - and the Vanco-Lukoil Deepwater Cape Three Points block, which has one discovery.

In February 2017, industry media reported that AGM was waiting to hear the verdict on a maritime dispute between Cote d’Ivoire - Ghana which is to be judged by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). A great chunk of Ghana’s hydrocarbon prospectivity lies on the western maritime frontier with Cote d’Ivoire.
