The development stages:Awaiting construction decision/2015-05.The investment is US$500mn.The project, officially dubbed Terminal Marítimo de Recepción, Almacenamiento y Regasificación (FRSU) de Gas Natural Licuado (GNL), calls for the installation of a floating regasification and storage unit (FRSU) 1.6km off the coast in Mejillones bay, in northern Chile. The plant would connect to the company's 780MW Atacama thermo via an underwater pipeline. Output from the regasification unit would start at 5Mft3/d (141,584m3/d) with the ability to increase production up to 10Mft3/d. The 170,000m3 capacity facility is intended to meet growing power needs from mining operations in the country.
