The development stages:In production - under development/2013-12.El Medanito field covers an area of 834 square kilometers in La Pampa province, on the eastern side of the Neuquén basin. Wholly owned by La Pampa province, El Medanito is divided in three main areas; Zona Central (oil and gas reserves), La Mariposa (gas production) and La Víbora (oil reserves). Argentine junior Petroquímica Comodoro Rivadavia (PCR) holds the exploration and production concession in the field since 1992. The firm recently extended the contract until 2026. At end 2013, PCR reported that its undeveloped, proven oil and natural gas reserves in El Medanito totaled 1.14Bm3 oil, 1.03Bm3 gas. The field has also 199 oil and 25 gas wells that averaged 1,004m3/d and 679,900m3/d in 2013, respectively. For the 2016-26 concession, PCR agreed to support oil and gas training and R&D in La Pampa.
