The development stages:Awaiting construction decision/2016-03,Under Construction/2016-05,In operation/2019-06.The investment is US$650mn.The project involves the construction of a combined-cycle gas-fired thermoelectric power plant and a terminal for liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the US, which will be used to supply the facility. The plant will produce enough power to supply the equivalent of 15mn homes. Developers Gas Natural Atlántico S.R.L. and Costa Norte LNG Terminal S.R.L. (subsidiary of AES Panamá) awarded South Korean construction firm POSCO E&C a turnkey contract to build the plant and the terminal.
