The development stages:Exploration drilling/2017-03.The onshore Huacareta area is 453,750ha and is part of a non-traditional hydrocarbons zone in Bolivian departments Chuquisaca and Tarija. It is operated by BG Bolivia, a local unit of London-based company BG Group, which in 2013 was awarded a 4,500 square kilometers license to explore the Huacareta block. The first five-year exploration phase will include a combination of seismic acquisition and interpretation, and could include the drilling of one well. Natural gas resources in the area are estimated at 13.5Tf3 (382Bm3). Planned investment in the first exploration phase is US$30.4mn. In the first five years, the company plans to spend US$100mn to conduct seismic, geological and geophysical surveys to identify new exploration targets. In 2014, US$8.8mn will be invested to obtain an environmental license and carry out geological studies.
