The Soraz/Zinder Refinery is a refinery project located 861 km east of the capital Niamey and 240 km north of the Nigerian city of Kano in Niger. The refinery includes a 1Mt/a atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit, a 600 Kt/a catalytic cracking unit, a 300 Kt/a diesel hydrogenation uint, a 100 Kt/a reforming unit, a 300 Kt/a gasoline sweetening unit, and three 1.2mw generator sets. The 20,000 barrel-per-day capacity refinery, 60% owned by CNPC and 40% by Niger Government, is fed entirely by oil from the Agadem oilfield a further 700 km east. The Soraz refinery follows a US$5 billion deal signed between the two in 2008 to concurrently build the plant and develop crude oil from Agadem.
