The development stages:Exploration drilling/2016-12.The Trión block was discovered in 2012 by Pemex and has 3P reserves of 485Mboe. It is located offshore Tamaulipas state, at a depth of about 2,500m. Pemex estimates that about US$11bn is needed to start commercial operations. However, the company sees this block as a strategic one, as it contains around the same amount of hydrocarbons as all those awarded in previous rounds combined, which totals 500Mb.
