The plant is designed to produce 504,000l/d. The facility will also have an associated cogeneration power plant. about a third of its capacity will be needed for the sugarcane-processing facilities. El Alcavarán's output will be key to meeting additional demand resulting from the government's plans to increase the proportion of ethanol in gasoline. It is expected that the plant's output will be used to increase the proportion of ethanol in gasoline in the country's central regions to 10% from 8%.
