The development stages:Exploration drilling/2013-07.The Coatí block is located in the Caguán-Putumayo basin and is operated by Platino Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Amerisur Plc. Amerisur currently holds a 60% working interest, while Canacol Energy owns the remaining 40% stake. C&C Energía, former operator of the block, drilled 3 wells: Temblon-1X, Temblon-1V and Chiguaco-1, all in the Caballos formation. The Caballos Formation is the main reservoir objective on the Coati block. Platino Enegy drilled the Coatí-1 well to a total depth of 10,800ft in June 2013. The Temblon/Coatí evaluation area in the southern part of the Coatí Block is currently in an evaluation program agreed with the ANH. The company agreed with the ANH on October 28, 2014 on the indefinite suspension of this program due to security issues, and consequently the Coatí-1 well remained shut-in during all of 2014. The rest of the Coatí Block is currently in an exploration phase. The third exploration phase involved a commitment to drill one exploration well by July 28, 2014. Platino requested an extension to this phase on May 23, 2014 due to a delay in receipt of the required environmental permits. On December 29, 2014, the ANH notified Platino that they were denying the Phase 3 extension request and would consequently initiate a process to resolve the interpreted noncompliance. Platino had previously notified the ANH that it has taken all necessary steps to obtain the required regulatory permits and that it disagrees with the approach taken by the ANH on this issue. Platino has subsequently continued to engage with the ANH to resolve the issue. Additionally, on December 30, 2014, and as a direct consequence of the Phase 3 extension rejection, the ANH notified Platino that it deemed that the corporation had entered into exploration phase 4 of the contract. Platino has directly rejected this interpretation and has been in talks with the ANH to resolve the matter. The existing environmental license in the Coati Block does not allow for any additional appraisal, development or exploration drilling in either of the two block areas, and is limited to production from the existing wellbores.
