San Isidro-Samalayuca Pipeline

The development stages:Feasibility/2014-07,Under Construction/2015-07,In operation/2017-03.The investment is US$110mn.Proposed by state power company CFE, the project involves the design, development, construction and operation of a natural gas transportation pipeline with 42-inch and 36-inch sections from San Isidro to the future combined-cycle Norte III plant in Samalayuca in Mexico's Chihuahua state. The first 42-inch segment will run from San Isidro to the interconnection with the Chihuahua gas corridor (already operational) followed by the 36-inch line to the combined cycle Norte III plant in Samalayuca. The pipeline will have capacity of 1.23Bf3/d and stretch 23km. The contract awarded to Gasoducto de Aguaprieta, a subsidiary of IEnova, the Mexican unit of US-based Sempra Energy, comprises the permit procurement, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of the pipeline. The winning offer was for US$148mn, or 26% lower than the estimated budget drawn up by CFE.
