The development stages:Awaiting construction decision/2016-11,Under Construction/2010-12.The investment is US$637mn.The Astillero del Alba shipyard project calls for the construction of a facility which will build and repair deep-draft tankers (300,000t) to supply Venezuelan crude to Asia. Venezuela's state oil company PDVSA, through PDVSA Naval, in partnership with Brazilian construction company Andrade Gutierrez is planning on developing the shipyard for the offshore oil industry. The project will employ some 3,000 direct workers during the construction stage and 3,500 as permanent staff when in operation.
