The development stages:In production - under development/2015-12.The Playón block covers 114,192ha and is located in the Magdalena Medio basin, in Colombia's central department of Santander. It has been operated by Ecopetrol since April 2008 under a production and exploration agreement signed with Colombia's national hydrocarbons agency (ANH). Ecopetrol announced the discovery of crude oil in the exploratory well Aullador-1, which produced 300b/d of 24° API crude in September 2012. In 2014, the well Aullador-2 was drilled to a vertical depth of 12,000ft (3,658m) and the company detected the presence of 13° API oil in the Esmeraldas formation. Crude was also detected in the deviated well Aullador-2 ST1, which was drilled to 12,120ft, and confirmed an eastern extension of a previously discovered deposit, with a flow of 765b/d at a natural flow rate and natural gas at a rate of 160ft3 (4.5m3) per barrel of oil. Work in the area includes 3D seismic surveying and drilling to further delineate the Aullador discovery.
