The development stages:Exploration drilling/1922-01,In production/1982-01.Camamu-Almada is both an onshore and offshore basin located in Bahia state, between the Jacuípe and Reconcavo basins to the north, and Jequitinhonha to the south. It extends across a total area of 21,300 square kilometers, of which 2,500 square kilometers are onshore. The basin has had discontinued exploratory cycles with a few wells being drilled since the 1960s. However, the most important finding occurred at BCAM-40, in the 1-BRSA-14-BAS (1-BAS-128) well, drilled by a consortium formed by Queiroz Galvão, Petrobras and Petroserv. Following the discovery, commercial viability was declared in 2002. Producing fields in the basin are Manati, Jiribatuba and Morro do Barro. Camamu is currently the largest natural gas-producing basin in Brazil, with daily production of 5.8Mm3 from three fields. Sectors SCAL-AP1 and SCAL-AP2 are being offered in Brazil's upcoming 13th bidding round.
