The development stages:Exploration drilling/2013-01.Operated by state-owned oil company Staatsolie, the onshore field Weg naar Zee is located near the Suriname coast. It has estimated resources of 11.3 Bboe barrels of oil equivalent. Exploration activities started in 2008. The following year, 10 wells were drilled that resulted in four finds in the C retaceous formation. In 2011, two exploration and three appraisal wells were opened. Two of the wells produced indications of oil and in three no hydrocarbons were found. Between 2008 and 2012, 58km of 2D seismic data was acquired, and 51km was acquired in 2013, when wells WZE 09, WZE 10 and WZE 11 were also drilled. Staatsolie considers this project one of its main exploration targets for 2014.
