The development stages:Discovery/2009-12,In production/2017-12.Camarão Norte, located in the Camamu basin, is part of the BCAM-40 block, owned and operated by Petrobras (35%), Brasoil (10%), GeoPark (10%) and Queiroz Galvão (45%). The field is part of the continuous block BM-CAL-04. The block was discovered in 2001, at a distance of 9km from the Manati Field, at a depth of 40m, with estimated recoverable reserves of 12.4Mboe. In 2009 it was declared commercially viable by El Paso (previous owner) and production will involve using infrastructure already in place at Manati, Brazil's most prolific gas-producing field. According to the Brazilian petroleum law, Camarão Norte and Camarão must have a common development plan which must be proposed to the ANP. Different options for its development are being considerated. Development should start as soon as the process of unification ends. The recoverable volumes are classified as 3C contingent resources by Gaffney, Cline & Associate – GCA. After the unitization process, the consortium plans to begin developing the field after the natural decline of the Manati field, predicted to begin in 2017/18.
