The investment is US$1.5bn.The Trujillo gas pipeline project called for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a 1,000km natural gas pipeline, benefiting the Peruvian cities between Ayacucho and Trujillo. Although it was cancelled at end-2011, Peru's private investment promotion agency ProInversíon doesn't rule out the possibility of reactivating the initiative in the future. For the time being, the region's needs will be met by a national program for the massification of gas usage, serving the cities of Abancay, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Chiclayo, Chimbote, Cusco, Huancavelica, Huancayo, Huaraz, Juliaca, Lambayeque, La Oroya, Moquegua, Puno, Quillabamba, Tacna, Tarma, Trujillo.
