The development stages:Exploration drilling/2000-09.The Sul Tupi prospect is located in the offshore Santos basin, south of the Lula field. Drilling at the well reached a water depth of 2,188m. Currently, Brazil's state-run oil company Petrobras, the prospect's operator, is carrying out an exploration program scheduled to be completed in September 2014. New hydrocarbon deposits have already been discovered in the area. The prospect is part of block BM-S-22, where Petrobras holds a 65% stake. BG Group (25%) and Gap Energía (10%) holding the remaining stakes.
