Project Profile
Location: Area 1, Rovuma Basin, offshore Mozambique
Water depth: 1,600m
Exploration start-up Year: - April 2010
The Collier field is located in Area 1 in the Rovuma Basin offshore Mozambique. Anadarko is the operator of the license (42%), which was awarded through Mozambique\'s second licensing round in 2006. The water depth in the area is roughly 1,600m. In April 2010, Anadarko ceased drilling operations on the Collier-1 well after encountering pore pressure at the top of the predicted reservoir objective, so the well did not penetrate or fully evaluate the section. Collier-1 was suspended and plugged for re-entry at a later date pending analysis of all relevant well data. The Belford Dolphin drillship drilled a four-well exploration campaign offshore Mozambique. Anadarko Petroleum entered into a definitive agreement to sell 10% of its stake in Mozambique\'s Offshore Area 1 to a subsidiary of ONGC. Once the agreement receives all necessary regulatory approvals Anadarko will retain 26.5% interest and operatorship of the license. ONGC will increase its interest to 20% after its June 2013 acquisition of Videocon\'s 10% interest.
