The offshore COL 8 block covers 934,030ha and is located in deep water north of the Guajira peninsula in Colombia. The block, classified as ¿opportunities for the technical evaluation of border areas,¿ was part of the 2014 Colombian Round for production and exploration licenses, held by state hydrocarbons agency ANH. The 36-month contract – which was never awarded – involved the acquisition of 6,000km of 2D seismic and the carrying out of 80 piston core tests. The contract would have lasted a further 24 years once production had started, and would have been extendable for another 10 years.
