The development stages:Exploration drilling/2014-01.Barreirinhas basin is in shallow waters and presents a total area of 50.000 square kilometers - out of which 30.000 square kilometers is offshore. It is located west of Ceará basin, in northeast Brazil. The area has been explored since the 70s and is now on its 3rd exploration cycle, which includes 2D and 3D seismic assessments and the perforation of exploratory and development wells. Barreirinhas is currenly composed of 20 different concession areas, most of which have been awarded in the 11th round in 2013. The basin is owned and operated by several different companies.
