The development stages:Exploration drilling/2014-06.Owned by Pemex, the Holok project is located in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Veracruz state and just west of the Han project. Given the significant gas findings in surrounding areas, the NOC decided to take on the prospect, which is divided into two areas: Ayikal and Lipax. There is more information available about Ayikal, allowing more results in the short and medium term to be obtained. In the case of Lipax, results are expected in the medium and long term due to its technical complexity. The Holok project will receive about US$4bn through the 2013-2027 period to drill a total of 28 exploration wells. Three of the wells will aim to delimit the area's potential. Meanwhile, 70 geological studies, 28 geophysical tests and 13 metocean studies will be carried out. To date, there have been two important discoveries in the project's extent, Yoka and Piklis. Yoka 1 was drilled in early 2014 and is located northeast of Pemex's prominent deepwater gas discovery Kunah. Boasting 771Bf3 of 3P reserves, Piklis will be farmed out over 2015, according to Pemex. Piklis is expected to be developed together with Kunah, which holds 7.1Tf3 of 3P reserves.
